Balancing a military career with a personal life, family, or motherhood can be challenging for women. A demanding work schedule, frequent relocations, the pressure of working in a traditionally male environment, and societal expectations can add stress and pressure. During the event, we will discuss strategies, advice, and inspiring stories with experienced speaker LCol (Retired) Marie-Pierre Raymond and other participants about how to find a balance between professional and personal life. This is an opportunity to hear practical insights and connect with others who are balancing similar demands.

Marie-Pierre Raymond is a Defence Scientist at the Canadian Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine involved in Defence Innovation. She serves as a liaison between the Ukrainian military and National Security organizations, Defence Research Development Canada, and Canadian innovators.  

With a background in chemistry and chemical engineering, Raymond has an extensive 27 years career that includes 12 years in the Reserves in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Communication and Electronics Engineering Officer, during which she worked in the field of Electronic Warfare and using my academic background for the military conducted environmental work on Canadian military sites in the Arctic, after the deadly earthquake inTurkey, and during Canadian support to United Nation operation in East Timor. Her last military posting brought together her military and sciences experience to fill the position of Senior Military Advisor for the Joint Forces Development at Defence Research and Development Canada. Upon retiring, she transitioned to a role as a defence scientist and innovation portfolio manager with the Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security program.
